Course Objectives
The SAN Administration on Data ONTAP® 7.3course was designed for those who provide support and administration for FC andIP SAN environments running the Data ONTAP operating system. This course isdelivered using Windows® and UNIX® hosts. The course covers SAN infrastructurepreparation, storage provisioning options, creation and management of LUNs andvolumes, multipathing and high availability, Fibre Channel cfmodes, andtroubleshooting techniques.
Course Content
· Identifyconcepts, commands and procedures for using the UNIX operating system as partof creating and mounting file systems using UFS LUNs on a NetApp storageappliance.
· Identifyconcepts, commands and procedures for using Windows® operating system as partof creating and accessing LUNs on a NetApp storage appliance.
· Configurethe appropriate cfmode for an FCP for SCSI environment.
· Locatedocumentation and identify systems and procedures for booting a host from aLUN.
· Createand manage LUNs with SnapDrive™ for Windows.
· Performadministration tasks for LUNs on a NetApp storage appliance.
· Diagramand describe the implementation of a LUN on a NetApp storage appliance.
· Configurea simple SAN using a Brocade SilkWorm® 2Gbps switch with a clustered NetAppstorage appliance and SUN Solaris or Microsoft Windows 2000.
· VerifyHBA drivers and firmware for FCP for SCSI and iSCSI for TCP/IP protocols.
· Manageand view HBAs and LUNs using a SUN or Windows host.
· Use thesio_ntap utility as well as NetApp storage appliance commands to gather datafor performance and problem analysis.
· Collectdata to assist with troubleshooting hardware, operating systems andapplications.
· Determinethrough problem isolation problems in the following areas:
· NetAppstorage appliance and HBAs.
· Brocadeswitch setup and connectivity to the host(s) and NetApp storage appliances.
· HostHBAs.
